This incredible organization was founded in 1984 by renowned wildlife artist David Shepherd, with the mission of combating species extinction. DSWF is dedicated to protecting endangered species in their natural habitats across Africa and Asia.
The foundation's comprehensive approach puts people at the heart of their work by funding ground-based conservation partners and working with indigenous communities. Since its inception, DSWF has invested millions in frontline conservation projects to fight wildlife crime.
There are as few as 3,800 tigers remaining in the wild. A combination of poaching, illegal captivity, and habitat destruction have contributed to their dwindling numbers. There are now more tigers in captivity in American backyards and tiger ‘farms’ than there are in the wild. The illegal trade in tigers and tiger parts is driving the species to extinction.
By adopting a tiger, I am directly contributing to their ongoing efforts and their mission, which is summarized as "The art of survival: Fight. Protect. Engage."
