Returning to the Hoedspruit area in 2024 and again in 2025 has been a truly magical experience, especially after my last visit was in 1981. While much has changed, I'm grateful that vast stretches of this wilderness have been conserved, preserving its timeless essence.
The raw beauty of the bush - its vibrant colours, unique scents, and intriguing shapes - reminds me that Africa is more than just a place; it's a profound connection to an unimaginable wonder I am fortunate enough to call home.
My soul feels renewed by the spectacular sunsets painting the Klein Drakensberg mountains, the intense hues of flowering impala lilies, and the leisurely game drives along sandy roads, winding through bushy landscapes dotted with iconic trees like the Leadwood, Baobab, Fever Tree, Knob-thorn, Marula, Jackalberry, Buffalo Thorn, and the Sausage Tree.
Seeing wild animals in their natural habitat is simply the best inspiration I can find, whether it is a giraffe gracefully reaching for the highest leaves, or a striking male nyala with his shaggy coat and spiraled horns, alongside the elegant, lighter-coated females
